7 Nov 2007 - Research Fellow honoured by BCS

Dr Rajdeep Dash has been selected by the Council of Professors and Heads of Computing (CPHC), in conjunction with the British Computer Society (BCS), as the winner of the Distinguished Dissertation Competition 2007. He will receive his award at the 2007 BCS Roger Needham Lecture at the Royal Society in London on Tuesday 13 November. Although this competition has existed since 1990 this is the first time that a Southampton researcher has won the first prize.


26 Sep 2007 - ECS to develop automated agents for the stock market

Professor Nick Jennings, Professor of Computer Science, led a team which won the Trading-Agent Competition (TAC) - CAT Tournament which was held in Toronto in July. The other team members were Dr Perukrishnen Vytelingum, Dr Ioannis Vetsikas and Dr Raj Dash. The team is now developing this automated stock market further.


15 July 2007 - AladdinRescue wins RobocupRescue Competition

An ECS-designed system which relies on computerised agents to act on its behalf during emergency scenarios has been awarded a RoboCupRescue championship prize.The team, led by Professor Nick Jennings, ECS Professor of Computer Science, developed ECSKernel, a simulator that plugs into a multi-agent research test bed.


31 May 2007 - IAM agent repeats trust success in ART competition

For the second year running an ECS team has won the Agent Reputation and Trust (ART) competition at the International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems, held this month in Hawaii.
